A coalition of 25 to 30 Asian American organizations plans to send a letter to the San Francisco 49ers today protesting the team's use of racial stereotypes in a training video.
The video was supposed to help players deal with the media and introduce them to the diversity of the Bay Area. Needless to say, the message may have been lost in the delivery.
And, what's up with George Chung, who played the buck-toothed Chinese guy with the thick accent in the video? He's the leading contender for the "Gedde Watanabe Long Duk Dong" acting award so far this year.

Kirk Reynolds, the dude who made the video, is getting sacked. '“I’m more sorry than anybody,” he said in a phone interview with The Associated Press. “My intention was to deliver a message important to our team. Certainly the execution and my decision-making were way out of line. I deeply regret it.”'
It's not like he accidentally let something "slip" that revealed his deeply ingrained racism, sexism, vapidity, lack of creativity and total depravation. He planned this damn thing out, wrote a script, got actors, arranged for locations, did 3 or 5 or 8 takes, and guffawed as the editors cut it together.
And now he's terribly sorry.
The great part is, he was talking about diversity and PR and avoiding controversy while creating the most offensive thing i've seen since the Jersey guys.
And to add insult to injury, the "Chinese" dude kept messing up his Rs for Ls, like "election -erection." A) That's a Japanese thing, you stupid piece of phlegm. B)It wasn't funny in "Lost in Translation" and it's still not funny.
